VOTE, don't complain !!!!

Re: abortions:  Did you know that abortions went DOWN when Clinton was in office?  After 12 years of a pro-life pres?  One of the first laws he passed was family medical leave act, which allowed a new mom 3 months with her newborn.  There is SO MUCH MORE to being pro-life than overturning Roe v Wade.  Instead of voting for a candidate that is against abortion, try choosing the one whose compassion for children is most likely to decrease abortions.

I have questions: DOES ANYONE BELIEVE IN MARRIAGE ANYMORE?

I have been married for 15 years.  Our first child was born 3 1/2 years after we got married.

I love being married.  My spouse is not perfect, but he is faithful.  I am far from perfect, but I am faithful.  He honored my religious beliefs for chastity before marriage.

I am Episcopalian, and part of the wedding service says "make their lives together a symbol of Christ's love in a sinful and fallen world"

amen!

when to help

Today my five year old told me his four year old playmate mentioned to him that his family doesn't have any food.  I know they are struggling, but don't know how much.  I don't know if don't have any food means they don't have money to buy food or just need to go shopping.  I'd slip them some $$ or a giftcard, but I don't want to offend them.  They work very hard!!  Probably people that struggle but don't qualify for help.  Should I let it go,or slip something in their mailbox (anonymously)?  maybe just keep my ears open for more clues, which just feels nosy?

Help Me Please!

You could try Harbour Credit Counseling Services.  Call 1-800-887-2389.  They might be able to help you negotiate a lower interest rate with your card companies, and start you on a payment plan, paying everything off in 5 years.  You would not be able to charge things in the meantime, and by the time they are paid off, you will have better habits.  They will do a much better job putting you on the road to real financial recovery than would someone just giving you a couple of grand.

You also need treatment for your depression, if you don't already have it.  If you don't treat your depression, you're spending habits are very unlikely to change, and you will continue to be unhappy.  There is no quick fix for this, but there is plenty of hope.

When you are have treated your depression, and your financial habits, you will have a LOT more to give a wife.  Best to you!!

from the other side of "asking for money"-- how to make others feel good about helping you

I now have read several posts from people asking for money to help pay their bills....and kids' christmas presents....speaking as someone who grew up very poor, and now has a little extra, but not a lot, let me share what makes me part with it....

First of all, it is better to ask for something someone already has, and is not using.  Instead of asking for money, ask for things you buy, so you can save your money to pay your own bills. For example, if buying school clothes for your size 12 son, ask if anyone has outgrown in good condition pants in size 12 boys.  If I had any, I'd pay money to send them to you.  Same with a kid's outgrown winter coat.  If trying to cut back on groceries so you have money for other bills, ask me how we manage.  I'd tell you, a bread maker and great soup recipes.  I'd send you the recipes, and if someone else has a bread maker they are not using, they'd probably give it to you before they'd give you 50 bucks for groceries, or at least tell you about a cheap one one ebay.  If you are looking for Christmas presents for your three year old, start a fischer price little people collection, and I'd send you some! Nice stuff doesn't have to be new stuff, be creative!  Ask people how they cut down on electricity before you ask if they'll pay your electric bill.  See if anyone has a spare part before you buy one from the repair guy.  If you even look like you are creatively planning ahead, instead of just reacting to what happens to you, I will be more assured that my help will actually help you, and will be much more likely to open my wallet.   God bless.  Sarai
